Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology provides evidence-based assessment and therapy for adults with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.

We provide care in the areas of acquired communication and swallowing disorders including those associated with brain injury, progressive neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease, stroke, dementia, head and neck cancer and the multitude of voice disorders among others.

The Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology team provides care through:

  • Comprehensive assessment
  • One-on-one outpatient therapy
  • Remote therapy via Skype
  • In-home therapy
  • Patient and family education and support

We are able to provide specialist programs including Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, as well as facilitate multidisciplinary care through local Ear Nose and Throat Specialists and on-site Audiology and Physiotherapy teams.

The Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology team has the skills and expertise to help. We are registered providers with Medicare, NDIS, DVA, and a wide range of Private Health Insurance funds. We work with HICAPS to provide on the spot rebates for those accessing our in-rooms services.

Therese Dodds - Principal Speech Pathologist

Therese Dodds - Director and Principal Speech PATHOLOGIST

Therese Dodds is the Director of Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology. She has thirteen years of experience in providing high level Speech Pathology care to adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders. She is considered a clinical specialist in the areas of Voice, Laryngeal Dysfunction, Head and Neck Oncology and other disorders arising from the Ear, Nose and Throat. Having worked in major tertiary referral hospitals throughout her career, Therese has likewise developed a high level of skill working across the Aged Care, Neurology, Palliative Care and General Medical and Surgical Speech Pathology Caseloads. With contributions to papers and guidelines, and presentations at National Conferences, she has been a long-time contributor to the Speech Pathology profession. Having created and led Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology from conception to present, Therese is known for her excellence as a Clinician and in Healthcare Management. Her patients have fed back over time that her warm, professional nature has made the process of working with her both positive and highly successful. Therese takes pride in leading her team in the provision of outstanding services across Sydney and Rural NSW.

Lindsey Pearson - Speech Pathologist

LINDSEY PEARSON - Speech PATHOLOGIST

Working with Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology since 2016, Lindsey brings a warm manner and strong clinical skills to everyone she deals with. With experience working in tertiary and metropolitan hospitals, rehabilitation services, and in the community setting, Lindsey is well equipped to manage patients and clients across the variety of environments we service. With particular experience in Aged Care, Lindsey is a lead Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology provider in Residential Care Facilities across Sydney. Further areas of clinical interest include Ear, Nose and Throat and Neurology. Lindsey is LSVT-Loud certified, provides voice care via our Telehealth service, and runs an innovative social group to support those requiring mid to long term communication therapies due to stroke, TBI, and disability.  A Member of MND NSW and ANCIG, Lindsey is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure she brings best possible services to our patients.

Caitlin Guyatt - Speech Pathologist

CAITLIN GUYATT - Speech PATHOLOGIST

Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology warmly welcomed Caitlin to the team in 2018. With experience working in metropolitan hospital in and outpatient settings, Caitlin brought a broad range of skills in the area of adult Speech Pathology care to our team. As a key contributor to our Palliative Care Service, Caitlin combines her empathetic approach with high level clinical decision making to ensure that patients receiving end of life care have the best opportunities to communicate and swallow according to best practice and their own wishes. Her experience working in Stroke Units means that her long term communication and swallowing rehabilitation work in the community is of a high standard. Caitlin is a keen contributor to those living with a broad range of disabilities. She provides individualised communication services and mealtime management plans in the community for those receiving support through the NDIS. A member of NSW Dysphagia Interest Group and lifelong learner, Caitlin has quickly stepped up to be at the forefront of Eastern Suburbs Speech Pathology Quality Improvement projects.
